The Club is not only beholden to the weather, and surf , but also the tide.
Thus the weekends races caught out some sailors with early starts.
Nevertheless Saturday saw a three boat chase of Europes , with Lee Roberts and Richard Bratten led unsurprisingly by Richard Eagleton , amongst an overall modest fleet of Ken Edwards, Laser Radial , Hanna Bolton , cadet , Topper and Max Dooley with Michael Carrara, Laser 2000.
Sundays race commenced even earlier, hence named “ Early Worm “. Light winds plagued the fleet , but the bigger sails of Dusty Miller and Andy Bullen , RS400, Asymmetric , saw it competently lead the pack, ahead of three Lasers , Bob Palmer , Zac Horsley , and Rick Parker, in the fast fleet.
The Slow fleet , again had Eagleton ahead, followed by Dave Kerr, Lightning, and Christian’s Terrazas, in her Byte. The cadets were represented by Eve Fifield , Topper, and Novices, Michael Carrara, Laser.
This weekend is the “ Get back to Sailing” push to engage rusty candidates again in this exciting sport, with members able to free sail alongside. More fun to be had on the Ocean.
