A fortunate string of favourably weathered weekends have enabled all 5 races of the Brass Monkey Series to be completed, the final two , races 4 and 5 on Sunday (15th Oct 2023).
Four classes were represented, with results as follows.
Race 4 saw Dusty Miller and Andy Bullen take honours in a lonely Assymetric class, and surprise surprise , won race 5 too. This time Tony Lane and Lynn Jarvis won amongst the Cat’s, again in both races. However mention must be made of our recent novices Dave Baldwin , Wendy Watkins and helm Etain De Witt, coming third and second on Sunday racing their newly acquired Dart 16A. An excellent outing. Malcolm Brookes , Comet Xtra, also won both races in the Slow Fleet.
And it was one of Malcolm’s cadet protégés, Logan Adams , of that well known sailing family , who won not just races 4 and 5 in the fast fleet, using a Laser Radial , but had already notched up wins in races 2 and 3, which must add up to a series triumph. He will discover at next months prize giving dinner .
Logan , Eve and Charlie all competed in the Topper Open meeting along the coast at Hastings . There was strong opposition, but mid order results were a proud representation of their sailing skills , against sailors from all over the country.
Earlier on 1st October the Club  Cup was run ,and yet again Logan Adams took first place, using a Laser Radial, followed by Malcolm Brookes, Comet Xtra, and Chris Burchell, Laser Radial.
We now look forward to getting back into our steamer wet suits for the Frost Bite series of 5 races, intermingled with the historic Trafalgar Pursuit Race , and concluding the season with the Poppy Charity Race ,the weekend prior to Remembrance Sunday.
Club members should check out the social events coming up soon too.
