At the weekend there was a full programme of sailing, starting with a Friday evening race. 5 boats were afloat, 4 of which capsized in tricky conditions but all managed to finish the race.  Ben Cole was first in the catamaran class, Richard Eagleton was first in the slow class in his Europe and Colin Coard won the fast class.

Saturday was the start of the Late May Short Series, consisting of 4 races over the Bank Holiday weekend, starting with two races back-to-back in blustery conditions. The first race attracted  9 entries.  With a strong wind from the North, two did not start and two did not finish.   The results were C Heath/J Dean won the asymmetric class, Dan Harwood and his crew, Etaine, won the catamaran class and Richard Eagleton was first in the slow fleet.

Only 4 boats remained on the water for the second race, with one retirement. The result was C Heath and crew J Dean who were first in the asymmetric class, Flo Wright first in the catamaran, and Richard Bratton win the slow fleet.

Sunday’s race again started in gusty conditions, with 6 entries. However only 2 two dingies finished the course. With increasing wind, capsizes and damaged boats, the race was cut short to 2 laps with only the 2 Europes completing the course.  Richard Eagleton was first, with Richard Bratton second.

Monday’s race was scheduled for 8.30am, but was abandoned due to the strong wind.
