A good mixed fleet of 21 boats hoped to race back to back on Sunday, and certainly started race 3 with high hopes.

In the end a dying wind meant a number of non finishers, whilst craving to wriggle out of their wetsuits to cool down in lovely sunshine.

In the Asymetrics Michael Copeman and helm, the Commodore, took first from father Jim Copeman with crew J Hookey. Both sailed smart RS’s of 400 and 200 varieties.

The Palmers were first of two Miracles , it was a Sunday , the second well sailed by Miles Coot and crew, obviously well taught last year. Dave Kerr, Lightning , was third.

Four Cats challenged, with Tony Lane and Lyn Jarvis, Dart 16 ,leading past the post ahead of Mark Sheldt and Lucy Spencer ( RS) and Ben Cole learning how his new Dart 15 operates, finding the wind dying to become a DNF. Simon North’s Sprint suffered the same fate unfortunately.

The Lasers were absent in the fast fleet, but Flo Wright’s RS Aero 9 although fastest round the track on handicap lost to Tony Witham’s Supernova.

Good to see Cadets showing the grownups their skills too. The 5 boats were lead by Emily Cook’s Laser, ahead of the RS Feva crewed by the skilful Daniel Cook and Logan Adams.

Rick Parker is showing the misnomer of heading up the Novice Fleet, with yet another win, no DNF for him.

More racing this weekend, with excitement growing for the 8th of August, start of Seaweek ending with the club’s Regatta weekend.
